Join us for Sail City Jump 2018!
Come and join us for the highlight of the swing dancing year! We've got workshops, international teachers, social dancing, games, performances and more fun than you can shake a stick at! Balboa, Lindy Hop, Solo Jazz, Burlesque, whew! A whole weekend of good people and great dancing - what more could you want?!
The workshops will run from 10am until 4:20pm on Saturday and Sunday at the Viva Studios at 10 Newton Rd, Grey Lynn.
The levels are described as 1 and 2 - as a rough guide, if you've been dancing 12 months or more, you'll probably be fine for level 2. If you've been dancing for less than 12 months, you may still be ok for level 2, but you need to be a confident and regular social dancer.
The workshops are a "choose your own adventure" - you can do whichever class you like at any time, you don't have to stick to Lindy, Bal, etc, and you don't have to stick to the same level. In fact, we encourage you to mix it up!

Minou Ericson is from Eskilstuna outside Stockholm and simply loves to dance. While taking street dance classes she was introduced to Lindy Hop and it was love at first sight. She loves social dancing, competing, choreographing and performing in both lindy hop and authentic jazz, using isolations and other street dance elements as part of her unique style.
Ever since discovering Lindy Hop at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Martin’s been pushing his dance by competing, teaching, performing and his favourite: social dancing. His musical intuition comes from an odd mix of his dad’s love of big band jazz, playing the drums as a teenager and briefly DJ’ing house in London.
Lauren and Andrew
Lauren and Andrew have taught Balboa at Full Swing Studios in Wellington since some point years ago that they can’t officially agree on. They love holidays that involve great dance events, lots of social dancing to fantastic swing music, and reconnecting with friends. Their experiences at international workshops, plus their love of geeking out about the intricacies of dancing, led Lauren and Andrew to set up No. 8 Balboa (no8balboa.com) events back at home.
